White Christmas in Washington

Well, I can't believe it, but we actually had snow on Christmas - virtually unheard of here in the Seattle area. We had about a foot and a half at our house over about a week time period. Although, it was beautiful, and we were able to get outside and enjoy it, I can honestly say, I'm ready to see it go. Our road was never plowed, our garbage hasn't been picked up in 2 weeks, and we've been only able to drive one of our cars (crossing our fingers that the Honda even starts on Monday!).

Lucy has had a blast this Holiday season. I'm a little worried for when we take down the tree, I think it may be devastating for her. On Christmas Eve, she was extremely upset that we don't get to see Santa when he comes to our house to leave presents. "See him, see him!" she said. It was so sweet, I nearly weeped for her.

Christmas Countdown

We continue to be jampacked with holiday activities this week. We headed to Toddler Group on Saturday for a visit from Santa and a little arts and playtime. The Saturday night we hit the Enumclaw Christmas Parade which, surprisingly, Lucy found very entertaining - all 1 1/2 hours of it. She yelled out "another truck" as each float or truck went by, being sure to also note the color of the new truck passing us.

Our big issue continues to be the lack of napping. It's taking its toll on poor mama. Desparately hoping its a phase...

Thanksgiving 2008 - what a weekend...

Wow, it seems ages ago that we put Lucy into the big girl bed but it's been only a week. Sleeping is still touch and go but I know it will get better.

Thanksgiving was great - with 5 busy children, chaos reigned, but it's so great to see 5 happy kids who love to play together. Wyatt and Karma played the role of "big" kids, Jake played with every toy in the house, Henry enjoyed the cat food, and Lucy was pretty much along for the ride.

After we survived Thursday, we managed to hit a lot of Christmas events. Friday morning, we hit Factoria mall for a little Tim Noah and Santa Claus. After setting up the Christmas decorations on Saturday, we hit the Kirkland tree lighting downtown. The A Cappella group that was singing had everyone in the crowd sing "12 Days of Christmas." This, needless to say, caused Lucy to scream "no, no, no" over and over again at the top of her lungs. And finally, Sunday morning, we went at got Lucy's picture taken with Santa Claus. She was a little bit shy, but didn't cry.

She's currently been watching "Elmo's Christmas Countdown" as many times as she can convince me to let her, so I think we are officially in the holiday spirit here at the Wheelwright house.
